What is Copywriting?

Copywriting is a service that provides persuasive text for a selling situation such as a salesletter or other website copy, or a printed salesletter. It is a specialized type of writing unlike any other writing. Copywriting requires a knowledge and understanding of the psychological sales process that we humans undergo when we're trying to decide to buy (most people aren't even aware of this process). This sales process applies whether we're buying online or buying as a result of a printed piece sent through the mail.

My Own Copywriting Story

I've been a writer for over 20 years. I began studying Internet Marketing 6 years ago, and I invested in training so that I could learn a lot in a short time. I even took a course on pay-per-click advertising so that I wouldn't waste money on ineffective ads.

While I was in that course, I finished my product, and it was ready to sell. My Google AdWords ads had the approval of my mentor. The salesletter was done, and the product was set up in the shopping cart. I began running the ads and got visitors to my website. I was elated!

But nothing happened. No sales. None. I went back through the entire product creation process and checked everything. Yes, people were visiting, but no one was buying. Why? Because back then, I didn't know how to write a salesletter; I had no idea what I was doing.

It wasn't until I started studying copywriting that I began to understand how incredibly important it is to learn when and why people buy. I did not start making money online until I learned how to write effective sales copy. Now I am making money from my own salesletters, and I'm here to help you.

Well-Written Sales Copy is a Marketing Asset

Now more than ever, a piece of well-written sales copy is an asset to your business; something of value that can be used in salesletters (online and offline) emails, product brochures, websites, and in many other forms.

You can "recycle" good copy. A turn of phrase, a list of features and benefits, a slogan or tag line, a succinct description that evokes an emotion, these are all elements of good sales copy, and they can be applied in varying combinations as needed.

Perhaps you already understand the value of copywriting, but you don't have time to learn the skill yourself. As a fellow Internet marketer, I understand the demands on your time and your need to prioritize. I can come alongside your business, understand your thinking and your product line, and create marketing assets that you can use again and again.

When our project is complete, you'll receive the sales copy and know how to use it effectively. Whether we create a salesletter, an email marketing campaign, or a set of autoresponders, I can help you sell your product with the copywriting and marketing assets I provide.

Do You Need Copywriting or Marketing?

Probably both! I am often approached by online business owners who want me to create salesletter for a product without knowing or understanding the other activities in their business. A good salesletter will sell a product, but if it's not in alignment with your core message, your product line, and your existing copy, it will seem out-of-place with the rest of your business, and tend to be less effective.

Creating copywriting assets is a detailed process. It involves collecting information about the basics of your business, your existing products, your existing marketing ideas and plans, and the specific project you're interested in having me complete. We also need to determine your needs, and whether my skills are a suitable fit.

Toolie's Marketing Map

So, I have created a program I call "Toolie's Marketing Map for Your Business:" a thorough plan that you can follow based on my analysis of your business. There is a charge to cover my time investment in the analysis of your business, and it is a required first step to completing your copywriting project. You can keep the document whether you hire me to complete the project or not.

To create the Marketing Map, you get a minimum 2 or more 60-minute consultation phone calls with me, which I record as MP3 files and send to you. I then write up your copywriting plan, a document based on our discussions, ideas, marketing plans, and the specifics of your copywriting project. All information is held strictly confidential.

The Marketing Map is usually completed within 3 business days following our final consultation call. Whether we work together on your copywriting project or not, the Marketing Map will help everyone on your team.

The Marketing Map is your initial investment; if you hire me for a project investment of $2000 or more, then the charge for the Map is deducted from your project fee. Other than the investment for the Map, there is no further obligation.

Before we talk, I suggest that you read the Writing and Related Services page to see what else I can do for your online business. Next, check out the Package Deals and then complete the request form. Upon receipt of the request, I will send you a link to schedule an initial consultation of 30 minutes.
